Transit places the viewer in a borderland between dream and reality, fiction and non-fiction past and present, myth and sexology, jungle and city.

The image keeps abruptly shifting between the reality of the remote past -woman hunting in the jungle sharing with birds and snakes, sensing and fearing danger, and then the reality of the modern urban environment appears. Suddenly a face that belongs to neither reality appears, harking back to ancestral memories preserved in the woman`s genetic system.

Searching through the images, we are carried away in imaginations by a bird with its sounds which ear tries to catch. Transit deals with retrieval of lost or hidden instinctual knowledge in human beings, alienated from the environment in which it first evolved.

Transit is an experimental work that develops the rhythm, colour and sound in a composition of fluorescent colours. The material is digitally processed and generated using chroma key and creates a suggestive rhythm of colour and sound.

The video shown here as an independent work was part of an installation and performance of several items - a four meter long boa constrictor around the body, seven monitors and projection. The video signals were distributed by a self produced video switch connected to the seven monitors. (AFG)
