by Mathis Muda & Walser Käthe

The video camera records images of the ordinary, everyday life of a housewife allowing each scene to to 'speak'. The camera follows the movements of the body, the objects and the elements, like fire and water. The movements appear in a series of links. In these links, it doesn’t look like there is any logic in the discourse, but, in a sense, the different images are being played with.

A woman in red jacket and boots, Pipilotti Rist, performs five songs, each on a specific theme. The topics are: the madness, the hysteria, the escape, the love and the laughter. These range from the tragic to the fun in the life of the young protagonist. ‘Japsen’ is a musical video poem parodying the ‘Schmuddelvideo’ (sleazy videos), genre.

by Sus Zwick

This documentary deals with the period after 1st November 1986, after the chemical disaster of the Sandoz chemical spill in Schweizerhalle (Switzerland).

"Thoughts of escape - stay here - being confined.

A lot of things were happening in the city. Our anger, our fear is great - we cannot offer anything! The men on television try to reassure us with their words. Life goes on. The area is purified, low walls are built, the toxic sludge has been pumped - the Rhine flows."
